Current Time in Cozumel

Cozumel · UTC−5

All opening hours in this guide use Cozumel local time (Quintana Roo, UTC−5). Cozumel does not change its clocks seasonally and is one hour ahead of Mexico City. Your ship’s time may differ: follow your cruise line’s all-aboard instructions.

The clock updates every second using your device’s clock and the America/Cancun time zone. More about Cozumel time

Chankanaab Park: Tickets, Beach Time and Water Adventures

Chankanaab · Cozumel Parks. Photo: Cozumel Parks.

Chankanaab is on the west coast at Carretera Costera Sur, km 9. It is a practical choice if your group wants to spend much of the day in one place. Build your visit around beach time and choose water activities according to swimming ability, age requirements and the conditions on the day.

What to check before buying Chankanaab tickets

Read each package rather than assuming every ticket includes the same things. Confirm park admission, snorkeling equipment, food, drinks, pool access, lockers, photographs and transport individually. For scuba or other guided water activities, review the health and participation requirements before booking.

Hours and prices: the Foundation currently lists admission from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with ticket sales ending at 3:00 p.m. and regular Sunday closure. Holiday openings require confirmation. Its advertised entry starts at MXN 418; this is a starting rate, not a guaranteed adult total. Verify age, residency, fees and inclusions for your visit.

Traveling with children? Read our Chankanaab family cruise guide. For pier planning, see our cruise packages and pier directions guide.

Punta Sur Eco Beach Park: Nature and the Southern Coast

Punta Sur · Cozumel Parks. Photo: Cozumel Parks.

Punta Sur lies at the southern end of Cozumel. Its lighthouse, lagoon, mangroves, beach and Navigation Museum make it a different outing from Chankanaab. Plan time for the journey and for moving between stops inside the park. Stay on designated routes and observe wildlife from the permitted viewing areas.

Hours and prices: the Foundation lists admission from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., regular Sunday closure and starting admission of MXN 323. Confirm your ticket category, the day’s opening, internal transport and any additional activities. A park ticket should not be treated as a guided excursion or a transfer unless that is explicitly included.

For an independent visit, arrange the return journey before leaving town. If you prefer a tour, ask for the exact route, time inside the park, admission inclusions and meeting instructions. Check Punta Sur admission with Cozumel Parks.

San Gervasio: Maya Archaeology in Cozumel

San Gervasio · Cozumel Parks. Photo: Cozumel Parks.

San Gervasio is an inland archaeological visit, reached from the island’s transversal road and a dedicated access road. Choose it for history and walking rather than a beach outing. Take drinking water, a hat and comfortable shoes, and leave archaeological structures and objects undisturbed.

Admission requires verification: INAH’s listing shows MXN 210, but that figure must not be presented as the complete visitor total without confirming eligibility and any separate Foundation access charge. Do not assume an exemption from one charge removes the other. Ask for the current breakdown and identification requirements.

Hours require confirmation: the Foundation lists 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with earlier closure of the highway entrance. Confirm operational status and last admission directly before traveling, including any INAH notices. This section is informational; no San Gervasio tour is sold through this guide.

Check INAH’s San Gervasio information and the Foundation’s visitor information before setting out.

Museo de la Isla de Cozumel: A Downtown History Stop

Island Museum · Cozumel Parks. Photo: Cozumel Parks.

Museo de la Isla is on the waterfront in downtown San Miguel. It offers a cultural alternative to a beach or archaeological visit, and can fit into a day spent exploring town. Check the day’s exhibition access and allow time to return to your terminal.

Hours and prices: the Foundation lists 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., closed Mondays, and starting admission of MXN 209. Confirm the current rate, age categories and any temporary changes on the Island Museum visitor page.

How to Get to Cozumel Parks from Cruise Piers and the Ferry

Approximate taxi driving time.

Travel times are planning estimates, not live traffic or taxi quotes. Chankanaab estimates are specific to the selected starting point. Punta Sur and San Gervasio show broad terminal-area ranges; the museum shows an indicative cruise-terminal range. Allow extra time for disembarkation, queues, walking, park access and your return. The animation is a quick illustration, not a real-time journey.

Getting to Chankanaab

  • SSA International Pier: approximately 10 minutes by taxi.
  • Puerta Maya: approximately 10 minutes by taxi.
  • Punta Langosta: approximately 15–20 minutes by taxi.
  • Downtown passenger ferry terminal: approximately 20 minutes by taxi.

These are approximate driving estimates supplied for this guide; traffic and terminal exit arrangements can increase them. They exclude disembarkation, taxi queues and walking to the pickup point. Exit your terminal, use its designated taxi area and ask for Chankanaab Park. Agree on the fare and currency before departure.

Getting to Punta Sur, San Gervasio and the Museum

For preliminary planning, allow roughly 40–60 minutes each way to Punta Sur and 30–45 minutes to San Gervasio from the west-coast terminal area; these are estimates to confirm with your driver for your specific pier and destination inside the site. The museum is a downtown stop: check walking directions from the ferry or Punta Langosta, while visitors arriving at the southern piers should arrange a taxi.

If you book an excursion, follow the confirmation's meeting instructions. Your guide may meet you at an agreed point near your port when pickup is included; do not assume pickup at every terminal or inside the secure pier area. Confirm the guide's identification, pickup location and return time before arrival.

For more detailed arrival planning, see our directions to Chankanaab, Cozumel cruise excursion guide and ferry routes, schedules and tickets guide.

Build a Cozumel Park Day That Fits Your Schedule

Start with your arrival and departure times. Subtract time for getting off the ship, both transfers, check-in and a return buffer. Then choose the activity that matters most to your group. A relaxed single-park visit is usually easier to adjust than a day with several prepaid stops.

Bring your booking confirmation, required identification, water, sun protection and a payment method accepted by your chosen operator. Confirm accessibility needs before booking: walking distances, uneven ground, water entries and transport arrangements vary. Check weather and sea conditions on the morning of water activities.

Cozumel Parks FAQs

Which Cozumel park should I choose for a cruise stop?

Choose according to your available time and interests: Chankanaab for a beach and activity day, Punta Sur for a longer nature outing, San Gervasio for archaeology, or the museum for a downtown cultural visit. Check your all-aboard deadline before committing.

Does one ticket include all four places?

Do not assume so. Read the specific ticket or bundle and verify each attraction, transfer and activity included in the price.

Are prices and opening hours guaranteed?

No. The figures above are planning references checked on November 6, 2026, and remain subject to operator confirmation. Starting prices may apply to particular categories. Verify the payable total and operating schedule for your date.

Can I visit without booking a tour?

You can plan an independent visit where admission is available, but arrange transport and verify entry first. Compare that cost with a package, especially if your group needs meals, equipment or a guided activity.
