Cruising to Cozumel This Winter? Your Friendly Guide to Chankanaab Packages and Every Pier
Your cruise is booked. Cozumel is on the itinerary. Now comes the fun part: deciding what to do when you step off the ship.
With the winter cruise season ahead, here’s a friendly suggestion from our team: plan your Chankanaab day before you reach the pier. Choose the package that matches your group, know where you’re arriving and leave yourself time to enjoy the park.
We publish our official online package prices at ChankanaabCozumel.com. You can compare the inclusions before you book, so you know what your day covers and what you may want to add.

Why the right Chankanaab package is worth it
A good package should make your day easier. It should bring together the things you actually want to do, with clear inclusions and a price you understand before arriving.
If you want park access and the freedom to choose extras later, a basic ticket can make sense. If your plan includes snorkeling, drinks and a pool break, a bundled experience may suit you better. If you want lunch and beverages organized too, our all-inclusive package is one of our most comprehensive options.
The value comes from choosing what you’ll use. Compare admission, equipment, meals, beverages and amenities together—not just the number in the headline.
Our packages give you different ways to build a complete park day. You don’t need to buy the biggest one to choose well; you need the one that fits your vacation.
Compare our packages before you sail
| Your kind of day | Where to start | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Explore at your own pace | Chankanaab Park Ticket | Park admission, beach area, botanical garden and sea lion show; equipment and other extras depend on your purchase. |
| Swim, snorkel and enjoy selected drinks | Cruise-day packages | Compare options that combine park access, snorkel equipment, pool access and selected beverage benefits. |
| Have more of the day organized | All-inclusive Chankanaab package | Park admission, Mexican buffet, Mexican open bar, snorkeling gear and additional park experiences. |
Check the complete price for your party: select the package, date and guest ages. A “from” rate may apply to a particular age category. A reservation deposit is part of the total, not the full ticket price. Review any extras and the remaining balance before confirming.
For the all-inclusive option, the published food-and-beverage service period is four hours; park access and activity schedules are separate. Alcohol is for adults of legal drinking age, and participation rules apply to water activities.

First, find your arrival point
Cozumel has three main cruise terminals: SSA International Pier, Puerta Maya and Punta Langosta. The downtown passenger ferry terminal is a fourth arrival point for visitors coming from Playa del Carmen; it is not a cruise terminal.
Check your cruise documents or ask your ship’s team which terminal you’ll use. A meeting point for one pier is not automatically the meeting point for another.

From SSA International Pier to Chankanaab
Disembark → follow the terminal exit and taxi signs → confirm Chankanaab Park with the driver → travel south along the coast.
Once you leave the ship, follow the pedestrian route through the terminal to the designated taxi area. Tell the driver you’re going to Chankanaab Park and confirm the fare for your entire group before boarding.
The park is south of this terminal. The park’s planning guide gives approximately 15 minutes by vehicle from the International Pier. That excludes getting off the ship, terminal walking, taxi waits and traffic delays.
If your reservation includes an arranged transfer, follow the exact pickup instructions on your confirmation instead of taking a separate taxi.
From Puerta Maya to Chankanaab
Disembark → walk through the terminal’s designated exit route → use the taxi area → ask for Chankanaab Park.
Puerta Maya is also on the south side of the main town, making it a convenient starting point for a park day. Follow the terminal signs rather than assuming that the closest person offering an excursion is your reserved provider.
The park’s planning reference is approximately 10 minutes by vehicle from Puerta Maya, before terminal walking and waiting time. It’s a driving estimate, not a suggested walking route.
Have your ticket confirmation ready, and check any pickup instructions before leaving the terminal. Puerta Maya and SSA International are separate facilities, even though they’re near each other.
From Punta Langosta to Chankanaab
Leave the ship → follow the signed pedestrian route toward the terminal exit → reach the designated taxi area → continue south to Chankanaab.
Punta Langosta brings you into the downtown waterfront area. It’s tempting to start shopping immediately, but if you’ve booked a timed activity, reach the park first and save any extra stops for a return plan that genuinely allows them.
The park’s planning guide allows approximately 30 minutes by vehicle from Punta Langosta. Actual travel can be shorter or longer; busy cruise days, loading time and traffic all affect the journey.
Before the ride, confirm your group’s fare and tell the driver which terminal you’ll need for the return trip. “Back to the cruise port” is less helpful than naming Punta Langosta.
From the Cozumel ferry terminal to Chankanaab
Arrive from Playa del Carmen → exit the passenger terminal in San Miguel → follow directions to the taxi area → travel south to Chankanaab Park.
If you’re staying in Playa del Carmen, Cancun or the Riviera Maya, your day has an extra stage: getting to the Playa del Carmen passenger ferry and crossing to Cozumel.
After arriving in downtown San Miguel, take a taxi to the park. Check our ferry-to-Cozumel planning guide and confirm the actual sailing times directly with your ferry operator.
Allow for ferry boarding, the crossing, arrival procedures and the taxi ride. Your return ferry has its own boarding requirements, so plan backward from the sailing you intend to take. This is the passenger ferry route—not the vehicle-ferry terminal.
What the drive-time estimates don’t include
Think of the times above as a starting point for transportation planning. They don’t include breakfast running late, waiting for your party, getting off the ship, walking through the terminal or finding a taxi.
Taxi transportation is separate unless your selected package explicitly includes it. Ask the dispatcher for the current group rate, confirm the currency and agree on the fare before departing. For your return, ask park staff about the taxi area and leave a comfortable margin for your ship.

A park day with room to enjoy it
Here’s how I’d approach it: arrive, check in and ask which activities have set times. If you have a guided activity, organize that first. Then build your swimming, lunch and relaxation around it.
Snorkeling access and a guided snorkeling session are not the same purchase. Equipment is included only where listed. Follow the activity team’s instructions about sea conditions, flotation equipment and participation requirements.
Keep the lagoon separate from your swimming plans: the ocean snorkeling area is a different part of the park. And if someone in your party prefers dry land, the botanical garden and time by the waterfront can give the day a different rhythm.

Pack for the day you actually booked
- Reservation confirmation and the identification your cruise line requires.
- Swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes; confirm towel inclusions for your package.
- Comfortable shoes, a hat and sun-protective clothing.
- A payment method for transportation and any extras you choose.
- A waterproof pouch for essentials if you’ll be spending time near the water.
For activities in protected waters, follow the current conservation rules and the guide’s instructions. Don’t touch coral, chase wildlife or assume a product labeled “reef-safe” overrides local restrictions. A rash guard is a useful part of your sun-protection plan.

Your ship’s clock gets the final say
Before stepping ashore, confirm your all-aboard time and whether your ship uses the same time as Cozumel. Local Cozumel time is UTC−5, without seasonal clock changes; your ship may follow a different clock.
Set a reminder for when you need to start getting ready to leave the park—not just when you hope to be in a taxi. Travel-time estimates never replace your cruise line’s instructions.
Also confirm opening arrangements for your visit date. Chankanaab normally operates Monday through Saturday; Sunday openings, when offered, need specific confirmation. A long advertised package duration is not a promise that it fits every cruise call.
